Frequently Asked Questions.
CampusCare
What is CampusCare?
A branch of Nightingale Nurse Advocacy Services, providing support for College Students and their families. Through conversation and sharing of information, students feel comfortable reaching out for local support when needed. Parents count on us to be there when they can’t be to meet the unique needs of their students.
What is the benefit of a subscription service?
This allows us to properly staff for the needs of our students and provide personal and high quality service. Our monthly CampusCare Membership includes a Birthday or Care Package, that alone would cost upwards of $50 for one delivery. Not sure you want to commit for a whole semester? Consider a month-to-month membership to try us out! If after the first month you want to continue, $59 can be credited to your Semester Membership!
How does your guidance differ from what I can find online?
We take pride in being a trusted resource for you and your student, by carefully listening to your needs and customizing our recommendations. We hope to build a relationship with you and your student that will last 4 years and beyond!
Nurse and Student Advocacy
How can a Nurse Advocate help?
In times of healthcare crisis, our stress limits our ability to make sense of what’s happening and without accurate language, we struggle to get the help we need. Our self-awareness and our ability to accurately receive new information is also diminished. Our Nurse Advocates support patients and their families by translating health information into understandable language, supporting them in their decision-making, and encouraging questions for better understanding. We provide peace of mind for the caregiver/family/ parent; giving them time to focus solely on the well-being of their loved one.
Student Advocacy Services-I have a healthcare emergency! What next?
We have registered nurses local to the college campuses they serve. If a student has an unplanned health emergency or a planned admission to the hospital, we can work with the family, the student and the health care providers to ensure you understand the plan of care and next steps.
What if the student is too sick or cannot make the phone call to Nightingale?
Nightingale accepts intake phone calls from the student, a friend or roommate, or a parent. The student (or parent if under 18), must sign consent for services prior to, or at the time of the visit.
Can the nurse advocate transport the student?
No. Our nurse advocates cannot provide any transportation services.
Can the Nurse Advocate travel with my student in an ambulance or helicopter if they are transported to another hospital?
The nurse advocate cannot travel with the student in the event of an ambulance or helicopter transfer to another facility.
What privacy policies are in place to protect the Health Care information of the students?
Students have the right to ask us to limit the information we share and have choices in the way we use and share information as we discuss their conditions with family, friends and the healthcare team. Our Privacy Policies for our Nurse and Student Advocacy can be found on our website under “Forms” where you will also find the “Patient Bill of Rights”.
