Nurse Advocacy

As your healthcare partner, the Nurse collaborates with you and your family to:

• Translate health information into understandable language and encourage questions for better understanding

• Explain the diagnosis and treatment plan

• Collaborate with the care team/family/caregiver/guardian

• Empower the patientand their families to make informed choices

• Educate the patient and family on diagnosis/treatment/healthcare communication

• Follow-up post-admission to support ongoing healthcare needs

Our Nurse Advocates do not:

• Provide transportation services

• Make medical or financial decisions for the student

• Diagnose or provide direct nursing care

• Determine fault or liability

• Provide financial advice
